  2. Sunshine Sold Out Stalls And Smiles At Clarkstons First Food Market Boot Sale

Clarkston’s very first I Love Clarkston Food Market and Boot Sale has kicked off in spectacular style - drawing in over 2,000 visitors and creating a real buzz in the town centre.

Set in the Goods Yard car park in front of Clarkston Halls, the event brought together food traders, boot sale sellers, and the community in a vibrant mix of shopping, socialising, and sunshine. And what sunshine it was - with temperatures soaring to 29 degrees, the market felt more like a Mediterranean street fair than a Sunday morning in East Renfrewshire!

A Day of Record Sales

Despite the traders being seasoned professionals, demand exceeded all expectations. By the end of the day, half of all stalls had completely sold out, with some stallholders selling through their stock in as little as two hours.

It was a clear sign that Clarkston locals and visitors alike are eager for this new monthly market, and ready to support both small businesses and sustainable second-hand shopping.

“It’s like Vinted but in real life!”

One boot sale attendee summed up the atmosphere perfectly:

“It’s like Vinted but in real life!”

Shoppers had the chance to snap up preloved treasures, echoing Clarkston’s strong tradition of supporting sustainable fashion and homewares through its many popular charity shops.

Supporting Local and Sustainable

Jenny Dunlop, BID Manager for I Love Clarkston, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted with the response to our first market. It was fantastic to see so many local residents not only supporting small food traders but also exploring the boot sale as a sustainable way to shop. This ties in beautifully with Clarkston’s many much-loved charity shops and shows that our community is really embracing both shopping locally and making environmentally conscious choices.”

A Regular Fixture in the Town Calendar

Following its outstanding debut, the I Love Clarkston Food Market and Boot Sale will now become a regular feature in the town, taking place on the third Sunday of every month from March to October, running from 10am–2pm at the Goods Yard car park.

The next event is set for Sunday 21st September, where there will be even more stalls, local produce, and unique finds.

So whether you’re hunting for delicious food, one-of-a-kind bargains, or simply a great day out with family and friends, Clarkston’s newest market is the place to be.
