🐾 Behind the Business: Creature Comforts, Clarkston

We caught up with Graeme and Ann Wilson, the husband-and-wife team behind Creature Comforts, to hear more about their journey, achievements, and love for the local community. Here's what they had to say!

How did Creature Comforts get started?
Creature Comforts opened its doors in 1997 at 25 Eaglesham Road, Clarkston. Since then it has expanded into adjoining premises in Clarkston and has opened a further three retail shops in Milngavie, Shawlands and Burnside. We offer pets, pet supplies, pet holiday boarding, dog grooming, home delivery, online shopping, own brand FORRESTERS pet food and are continually implementing customer focused, market-driven changes. The Creature Comforts family has promoted responsible pet ownership for 28 years. The family has grown the business to provide THE place to come for all your pet’s needs.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?
Our customers (human & four legged variety!) Sounds corny, but Graeme & his team love providing solutions to customers’ pet dilemmas...

What do you love most about Clarkston?
It is CC’s birthplace so it will always hold a special place in our hearts...

What’s been your proudest moment in business so far?
There have many special moments, including winning Best Family Business in the East Ren Business Awards but the proudest moment has to be winning the Pet Industry’s UK’s Best Independent Pet Retailer award...

Do you have any fun facts or behind-the-scenes stories you'd like to share?

• Strange beginnings with their shop launch coinciding with the funeral of Princess Diana
• Graeme’s various TV and radio appearances, including meeting Billy Connolly
• Their runaway lorikeet adventure — all the way to Stranraer, 86 miles away!
