- A Chat With Ray From Greensleaves Landscaping
We caught up with Ray McIntosh, the founder, to hear about how it all began, the rewarding side of landscaping, and what he loves most about working in Clarkston.
A well-designed garden or outdoor space isn’t just about looking good—it’s about creating somewhere you can truly enjoy. That’s exactly what Greensleaves Landscaping has been doing since 1996, helping transform gardens, patios, and driveways into places that stand the test of time. We caught up with Ray McIntosh, the founder, to hear about how it all began, the rewarding side of landscaping, and what he loves most about working in Clarkston.

How did [Greensleaves] start?
During school years I started gardening in evenings and weekends, and landed a job as Gardener at Glasgow Golf Course around 1992/3, and after a few years I moved into landscaping, with Greensleaves brand first appearing in 1996.
When did you launch, and what inspired you?
I had two very supportive and inspirational customers who encouraged me to start my own business, and on a Saturday afternoon in the west-end of Glasgow they gave me the push to take the leap.
What’s your favourite thing about the job?
Landscaping is rewarding on many levels... not only is every day different, but everything we touch builds a legacy that will be seen, touched and used for decades, and this provides a very special sense of satisfaction.

What do you love most about Clarkston?
Clarkston has a wonderful sense of community, and lots of great places to eat and relax!
Any fun facts or behind-the-scenes stories to share?
We share our name with a 16th Century folk song (Greensleeves), and whilst we do enjoy karaoke this isn’t on our playlist!
